Now that we've had time to experiment with quad-jump in GOW Energize and Gang War, I want to get a broad idea of whether people like the quad-jump mod. I've heard mixed opinions so I want to open it up for a vote.

I like the quad jump but we need to switch it up once in a while. I liked the Bangin Mod that we used before? What did that consist of again?
Submitted by COKKENBALLS on Wed, 07/02/2008 - 5:55am.
The original Bangin' mod is great. Heck, they have all been awesome. Between all of the maps and mods. I worry that some people stick to pure because it is so much less of a hassle.
I go and download new maps and get a basic feel for them by playing them in Instant Action. After I invest the time in them, new maps come out and I am back to square one. The same thing might apply to mods. I was just beginning to master the uberboard when the self-destructing Taliban-Board came out. Then there was the pUNK rifle. Then the Taliban-Board is gone and the impact hammer jump is there. Then the bullygun. . .
Last night, I was in a game against JP and ATX on pure and we were having a good time. I got an invite from Noot to play and accepted. We were having fun playing some stock maps and then someone voted for one of the newer maps. I didn't have it and got dropped. That is why I play pure as often as I do. I never know how long I am going to be able play until I get dropped.
The point I am trying to make is this. If we want more peeps on the GOW servers and more opportunities for clan battles. The complexity of all of the mods and maps has to be dummied down. Maybe a core set of maps and mods? A dozen maps are voted on and bi-monthly, four new maps are voted on and cycled in?
I know that some maps work better with certain mods. Is there a way to cook the mods into the map? If the Uberboard works better on Azeraw. Cook the map with that mod embedded. Middle City Arena is more suitable for that self-destructing Taliban-Board. So, that mod gets cooked into that map. Am I making sense? I'm not down on any of the mods or maps. I have yet to be disappointed in any of them. I'm just waaaay too busy to keep up with this stuff. Especially with it being summer. I know Crusher feels the same way. He'd rather be outside in his tube-top!
I like the Jump mod a WHOLE LOT. I think it adds a whole other dimension to the game. However for a real battle or practice scrimage, it may not be the best mod. Unless of course the UNKRifle or BullyGun is involved.... Then it's a MUST!
I think it's a huge innovation literally over every other PS3 Jump Mod Released thus far. I think it's something we should keep hosted at least on 1 server, for now. However, I'm anxious to see how this vote comes out. I think for a battle mod we should use the impact hammer to get up real high as you suggested yesterday. Since that eliminates the battle concerns as nobody will try to whip that out and bounce around in close combat - yet you still don't lose all the NEW and FUN things you can do with the Quad Jump.
Finally, I think you should increase the stock jump and game speed that was in Bangin - NOT to 12.5 but to 8-10% as that will solve the Weapon Speed concerns and become our hardened Base Battle mod. Our #1 Fun Base Mod, still goes to Energize!
There was some confusion about the game speed in Energize... I thought it was 10% faster but it slipped out at 12.5% faster. Some of my changes were lost when my hard drive crashed. In Gang War, it is 10%.
As far as I can tell, looking at Epic's source code, PC speed is 10% faster than PS3 and I believe that is what we want form now on. We can tweak weapon speeds, jump heights, and all that other stuff but game speed mainly effects movement and stock PS3 feels too damn slow. If you have trouble aiming with your damn controller I can not help you. Now that we know what the proper speed is, why should we mess around with numbers like 6.25 and 12.5... 10% is the right speed... it is just right... anything else is just wrong.
The Kamikaze Board is still in Gang War. I think the main reason some people are getting confused about which mods are running is because we're not sticking with the latest versions on both servers. GOW-1 still has Energize even though Gang War has been out for several days. GOW-2 seems to switch every day and it has not been up during the day. How can people get a sense of the new features and provide feedback if they only have a two or three hour window on Sunday night to try new things out?
The Impact Hammer mods require some practice mainly because it is a weapon you normally don't use. The vehicle damage boost requires teamwork. The vehicle disabler requires a new mindset... running at vehicles. So I think the jury is still out on the Impact Hammer mods.
It was immediately clear that giving someone invulnerability for popping the opponent's orb is probably too influential but I don't think it makes Gang War unusable... hell, some people may never even know about it because they would never take one for the team. I probably fall on an average of 4 orbs per competitive round and I deserve a prize goddammit!
But the quad-jump we've all had a couple weeks to sample so I think we can decide on that this week.
We can not cook different mods into different maps because you choose the mods separately from the maps when you launch the server. But it is possible to enable different features of our mod in different maps.
Call me tonight Pacer. We'll briefly discuss the Server/Mod combination with you. Thanks for clearing that up for everyone. Plus I want to clear up some things anyway. BTW, that's why I was asking for 8-10% because i think we should match or hover just below PC Speed. Hell, I'm fine for matching it exactly. Let's stick with that!
I think GOW 1 should always have the latest stable release that we all enjoy, and are not in a debate about. Energize seemed to be a milestone in the evolution of our base mod (bangin). Gang of War seemed to be testing a few great new ideas, but I didn't think it was ready for GOW 1. This way as we (you) build new mods, weapons, maps etc... users will know that they can count on GOW 1 as the standard server that barely changes. GOW 2 will always host the fringe of our latest releases and tests. We are planning to have a name in our description describing that or at least distinguishing them instead of only #1 & #2. As for it being up during the day, I can't speak on that... The two Eric's live 20 minutes away from each other now. RUSSO, launch it before work!
I DO AGREE, that it's hard to make judgements if we can only play it on Sunday nights. We'll clear this up tonight and agree on what everyone can count on in terms of your releases and our server's uptime.

This is what we are already striving for with the GOWShowcase. I encourage EVERYONE to start voting (5 star voting system is final & when clicked it doesn't take you to another page it just takes your vote and you continue reading) and I also ask that you read that entire (i know it's long) list of maps and leave your comments. As more people comment and maps get added to the list and mods get standardized.... We will start to host different sets of maps/mods on the two different servers. This will make it more coherent and will be like a graduation feeling when you are a n00b and start playing on GOW 2 vs. GOW 1 which will have a more base mod with the simple and enjoyable maps. GOW 2 will start hosting the bigger, UNK like maps with weapons and the latest developed base mod from Pacer. Hopefully this, combined with our current and future tutorials for maps, mods and the mic on PS3 (all hosted here) will help everyone realize that not trying maps/mods will become less of "oh it's to much of a hassle" (which i can understand & currently agree that it's like that for CERTAIN people) and it will become more like "I've been lazy for long enough and everytime I sign into UT3 it's like playing pong cuz it's the same stupid speed on the same stupid 12 levels." The pong metaphor only cause pure is SLOW and super redundant (in my opinion this is mostly only true on the PS3 as PC's pure is faster and with far more challenging and quantity of players).

I don't know if you remember - but I said it at one of our first Clan practices... You are quite an Orb Runner... Now you are a little beyond just a good runner... See yall at practice tonight. For once I won't work on the Website on Wednesday night No Map Cooking/Editing or anything Clan related. The release is so close... it's time to break and play a little to remember why I'm doing all this.
The votes are in and the votes by GOW members were 7 to 5 in favor of removing quad jump. The remaining votes, from non-GOW members and anonymous visitors, were in favor of keeping quad jump. We appreciate the feedback from everyone but we will let GOW members decide this one.
I will release a new version of the mod tonight with quad jump removed. I will also release quad jump as a separate mod that people can download and host themselves.

It makes you a Human Deemer. Super cool, but a little overpowered... Too easy to take out nodes, I feel, but still loads of fum to mess around with. We have a working PS3 version as well.

Other things that deserve a reward in game...
How about invulnerability for 5-10 seconds every time JP or I sneak/muscle the orb onto a node?
Your reward is victory!
