Woolvie Plays Downtown

Each team starts with 1 Manta, 1 Scorpion, 1 Hellbender, and 1 Paladin. If you have 5 or more people on your team, each of these vehicles should be taken from the core at the start of the match, though I don't really care for the Paladin.

The Manta can be used to quickly get in front of the opposing team's orb runner & squash him, to hide inside of the Enemy Prime Node before it is built preventing it from being built, or to establish a defense at Center Node.

The Scorpion and Hellbender should be driven to Center Node to establish a defense.  The Scorpion can easily take down the other team's Manta and the Hellbender Shock Combo can effectively wipe out any incoming infantry.  Launch Shock balls in a zig-zag pattern, then shoot the last one - this will set off a chain reaction of Shock Combos.

*Thanks for dropping in the maps Eric. Or was it Eric?*

The Orb Runner should take the quickest route possible - some people prefer the alleyway, some prefer the street.  The alleyway gives you more cover, but you have to go up and down the gulley.  If you take the alleyway grab the AvRIL Longbow, in case someone is coming after you in the Manta.  The street leaves you exposed, but you don't bump around like you would if you're in the alleyway and not skilled on the hoverboard.  Also, if you take the street you can grapple onto a vehicle (Manta or Scorpion) that can get you to the Prime Node faster.

Stay on your hoverboard and perform a jump over the Scorpion spawn spot inside of the Prime Node building, exiting your board in mid-air.  This will allow you to skip the stairs and shave a couple seconds off Prime Node building time.  Drop from the Prime Node on your hoverboard and perform another hoverboard jump-dismount up to the Orb spawn.  Your teammates should begin building Center Node.  Ask if they can get it up without the Orb - if so, take the gulley toward Enemy Prime Node, collecting a pair of Jump Boots near the trash cans in either alley leading to Center Node.  If not, proceed to Center Node.

If an additional teammate is available, they should take the hidden jump pad next to the core to the rooftops, collect the Longbow AvRIL and Jump Boots.  This teammate will then be well equipped to perform Special Ops - taking out enemy vehicles, collecting the Shape Charge (first spawn ~1 minute into the match), and the Redeemer (first spawn ~2 minutes into the match).  Use your Orders settings to get notification at Shape Charge and Redeemer spawns.

According to JPINATOR, once the other team's core is exposed, it is a good idea to control the tank node.  Then drive the tank to the core, spawn-rape the opposing team, and have your teammates invade the core from the rooftops.

More to come.

This strategy would almost guarantee victory if pulled of successfully. This is great advice to give beginner/intermediate players. Keep 'em comin Woolvie(NO HOMO)

ahem

Just a little note on this map

For those that like to bark out orders to the orb runner (which is normally me getting barked at) and you want the orb to go to center first, someone better protect the orb runner when they are sitting there at center waiting for prime to go up.

Thank you

I second that

Unless Noot or Gty are driving that Hellbender to Center in front of me, I always use the orb to build Prime;  partly because I don't want to get crushed all alone at Center, while I wait for someone to build Prime, but also because, for the most part NO ONE BUILDS PRIME.

COKKENBALLS's picture

Frank programmed me to always

Frank programmed me to always go to prime and build it while he runs the orb to center. After hearing "COKK!" "COKK!" "What are you doin' COKK?" I learned to just simply ask where they are going with the orb. If there are people already building prime, I chase after and hope my orb carrier isn't tits-up in a ditch.

'Strategy'

I always here cokk cokk every night too.  I'm like - come on honey I'm trying to play the game.  Man!

I kid, I kid. It's more appropriate for you to joke about that.  Not cause of your name either. Just look at your Avatar.

Seriously though whatever Frank 'programs' you to do; good call by I'd doing it.  He is our master strategist.  Our current #1 player, u know who, couldn't agree more with those two statements. Just like Mr. Nootsac himself, Frank is always looking at the map and what's going on.  Everything else can be initially instinctual but the mini-map, timing, strategy and player/orb locations is where most of your brain power should be spent - especially when you're still learning to dominate opponents in Warfare. Eventually you get to know the timing and every scenario on certain maps.  THEN, you can go back to concentrating on traditional shooting/maneuvering as the map/strategy stuff you've memorized becomes the instinctual part. At that point you start (or go back to) mastering your "DM Skills" to really sharpen your already robust WAR Knowledge & Skill.

Did that make sense to you?  Who knows, I'm in a ranting type mood today.  Just ask Pacer...

WOOLVIE, I just noticed your comment. You guessed it - it was me....

Cheers,

Its great to know..

Its great to know I can program a cokk other than mine......That sounds gay as hell..LOL. But the reason I sound like a coach is because I am a Football coach. I'm all about taking what your opponent gives you. If they want to make a stupid mistake I find a way to use it to my teams advantage whenever I can. I look at UT3 as a more modern version of Battle chess whhich I played alot on my Apple 2c when I was a kid. Yea I'm that old. Any way I think DM has improved my game some I use to have the tendancy to stand still and I try not to do it as much. It helps especially when defending with an orb which I have been doing lately. I haven't been doing much running to core unless someone else has the orb on lock. Cokk has become a much more rounded player, definetly sneekier. Just do what I tell you young Skywalker and you'l be a Jedi...yes you will...you will be.....

There have been a whole host

There have been a whole host of things that have improved my game. I attribute most of it to playing over my head in games where I am absolutely the weakest player. I always listen to Frank during games. If I grab the orb and haven't heard form him, I ask.

I had a lacrosse coach who used to bark at me the same way Frank does. In the heat of battle, you don't have time to be polite. If you are thin-skinned. Competition isn't for you. Frank hasn't steered me wrong yet.

Crusher got me to actually start trying DM/TDM. He introduced me to the QCP guys. Playing with RaoulCheap_QCP, Yternal and Xcaliber will hopefully help me learn to shoot better. I know it has dropped my ranking about 6,000 spots but, who cares. The same people watching the rankings are probably the same people who stare at my dork while at the urinal.

Recently, I turned down the controller sensitivity and turned up the turn accelerator. It seems to have helped me quite a bit. I look forward to the day when I can shoot with the accuracy of Teckniec or Dakilla. They seem to be able to do cartwheels and still shoot you square in the chest.

Any sneekiness I have learned from players like JP and Lunchy(I have a theory on his whereabouts).

Vehicles: Some of the vehicles are a mystery to me. WTF is a Paladin for? The only thing I have seen it do is get in my way on Downtown when I am trying to get to the prime node.

The Manta is another one. Noot seems to be able to make the Manta sit on an opponents face whenever he wants. I fumble around, bouncing up and down like I'm trying to land my gig in a towny bar-slut in the dark while I'm shit-faced.

The Viper I sometimes have trouble controlling too. It has become a favorite of mine after watching MrTotalSomethingorother do crazy shit with it on Onyx Coast.

I won't even get into a Leviathan. I have a better chance at losing a game of one-card Monty than I do of running that effectively.

Do you guys use relative controls or direct?

I still learn new things everyday. I never knew what the whole Darkwalker Fart was or how to do it until last week. I didn't even know how to make the Darkwalker crawl until I asked Crusher last week. It was only two weeks ago that I learned you could alt-fire the redeemer. Crusher gave me the fundamentals of the shock-combo but, I still can't do it when it counts.

Anyway, thanks to all who have helped me and been patient.

I have a theory as well

I think this Twc_oWnage might be Lunchy or Do_or_die. He handed me and Rage of supreme our ass last night

COKKENBALLS's picture

I know that Do_Or_Die isn't

I know that Do_Or_Die isn't lunchy. I was introduced to him through a VCTF player named TigerBoo318. I have also seen them play together. I can't say either way on Ownage.

What about Spagender? Didn't his resurgence happen at the same time Lunchy disappeared? I know it is probably hair brained but, I have never seen them online together.

Jpinator's picture

lol, do_or_die isn't lunchy,

lol, do_or_die isn't lunchy, nor ownage..i've talked to both of them on mics. Spagender has been on before I have even met lunchy..plus I don't think lunchy would change his name just to play, he didn't seem to be the type.

I have trouble keeping track of the tWc roster, isn't oWnage FRSLAMBOFGOD?

Woolvie's picture

OK, then who is tWc_Deathblow?

Woolvie's picture

from their own words

From Epic Games Forums - tWc thread...

Lunchy/ tWc_Lunchy
Spagender/ (no tWc account...yet)
ATXbRoKeN/ tWc_MrGaMeOvEr
Lunareffect13/ tWc_Lunar13
NeoSabin/ tWc_NeoSabin
Harmerty/ tWc_Harmerty
Imm1nent/ tWc_Imminent
GhostofalucarD/ tWc_DeathBloW

So I think oWnage is FRSLAMBOFGOD.

BTW, the first post says tWc has a 7 win - 4 loss record in Warfare against GOW.  Did I miss 10 clan matches?  I only know of the 1 that happened, that GOW won.

Who authored the post with the win/loss record in it?
