GOW is starting a PC Clan. Noot has ties to A.S.S. and other Clans which may provide great competition and collaborative efforts on Mods in the future.

Status : This is still low-priority as you'll see from our Clan Status Project List....

Plus; we will always be primarily a PS3 Clan & will maintain our leadership and innovator stance in the PS3 Community. That will remain our focus.  In fact; in order to stay on the cutting edge and continue to pioneer Maps, Mods, Services & Other Releases for the PS3 we MUST stay current in the PC Community in terms of User Generated Content.  Any Map or Mod cooked for the PS3 was done on a powerful Computer with the PC Version of UT, a next-gen Video Card, a good Processor & 1 Gig+ of memory. This PC setup is behind all PS3 Releases.

On that note I usher in a new forum for anyone who is interested in building or upgrading a rig to run UT3.  Whether it's simply to run Notepad for .ini files, editing Unreal Script, whether you want Unreal Editor & Maya to run for Map Engineering/Creation, whether you just want your machine just to cook PS3 Maps & Mods or you want to play UT3 & Crysis at full detail - this is your spot for advice, tips & links to building & tweaking the Ultimate Unreal Tournament 3 Computer.

Plenty of Clan members and others will be on this forum and have vast experience with computer hardware and 3D gaming old and new. We know the industry and the state of Consumer/Enterprise level PC Performance so ask away or send some feedback.

Now, I bring to you the UT3 System Score Calculator.

This is the first thing you should look at to finalize what you will be researching and ultimately purchasing.  It is extremely up-to-date with hardware combinations that have yet-to-be even benchmarked on mainstream Hardware sites.  Start with this tool and work your way over to Tomshardware.com, Anandtech & ExtremeHardware to correlate FPS to these System Scores. Then use THIS CONFIGURATION GUIDE to max out your settings.

Without further blabbing....
Special thanks to over to BrZ

Remember that a single point can mean a lot more than you might initially think.  Check a real FPS Benchmark for UT3 on said sites to see the huge difference 1 point on this tool can represent.  Elsewhere you can also check any benchmark for Multi-Threaded games like UT3 & Crysis that may present itself in the future.  Enjoy....

nice!!

nice setup but you should get the Intel q9450, its less then a 100$ more and has a 12mb cache vrs the 8mb cache on the q6600. Also get a normal dvd burner and save that BR player for blurays only, you would be mighty pissed off if that thing got burned out in a year from using it on normal dvd's and cd's!!

New Gaming Desktop PC: Buy or Build it Myself

I'm thinkiing of either buying a new gaming desktop PC or building one myself (but I've never built one before).  I would like to learn how to cook mods for the PS3 & would need a PC that can handle it.  Also, I want to be able to play the upcoming Star Trek Online game that is currently being developed by Cryptic.  Unfortunately, no system requirements have yet been released for it.   Also, I want this new PC to be upgradeable.

Questions:

1) What kind of specs am I looking at based upon what I've stated above?

2) I've never built a PC before & I'd like to know if it makes more sense to buy one rather than build one?

Any input would be appreciated.  Thank you.
