Team Fortress 2

Ok I bought Team Fortress 2 yesterday and it was my first time playing it. After about 5 hours of play my impression is WTF! How the hell are there 5,000+ people playing this in the US and only 250 max playing UT3? UT3 hands down kicks TF2's ass, even in UT3's stock form. TF2 has a gametype called control point which would be somewhat like ONS: to win 1 team must own all the control points. To me the game just felt like constant spamming of weapons and constant fight mismatches since there are like 10 different player classes, each with different abilities. I suppose I can see how the different classes can work in tandem to win a game, I didnt like it too much though.

 

I did like how when a match went into overtime that every player is of the same class and can only use melee weapons to go attack the enemy team. When overtime starts you are surrounded by your team at the spawn point, when the countdown to match start ends everyone from your team runs from the spawn point yelling like a bunch of mad drunks. That is pretty humorous.

 

So to end this rant, I am a little pissed that I wasted $20 on a game that I probably wont play very much. I am still in limbo between UT3 and the next worthy fps.  I'm not even playing 2k4 much either, cant do it. 2k4 is the best game I've ever played but I've had my fill. Sigh, at least summer is almost upon us, I think I shall go outside......

lol your crazy Sanch3z. Just do us all a favor and comeback to UT3 already. You know you cant deny her anymore , you tried many times to get a divorce but it seems like that bitch isnt gonna let you go. I also wouldn't mind our crew getting into a game that could potentially make us $, but from your recent research it doesnt look like anythings worth it. If your interested I think we are going to be hosting the next server raid using Madness on monday the 27th

TF2 might be more fun if we tried it as a group with coherent roles... not trying to force it... just thinking the key word in "Team Fortress 2" is "Team".

But I suspect Warfare is better because it effectively lets you change your role at any time. Plus I like vehicles.

Maybe we should all get an xbox and play Halo. <-- Let the flames begin ;-)

I would play UT3 in a heartbeat if there were people playing it. Right now I am looking at game monitor and there are 9 people playing Warfare in the US... 9 friggin people! that is beyond pathetic. As much as I like UT3 it is far past fuxxored. The community that is left is mostly a bunch of twats that just want to keep arguing about if 2k4 or Ut99 or Ut3 is best, see beyondunreal forums.... The comp community cant agree on what maps should be played: OMG this is Warfare, it should only have 4 nodes per map max, and all node links must be in a straight line, ahhh derrrrr....

 

A game needs to be good at release, something UT3 wasnt. There is nothing left for UT3 except dwindeling player count and complete abondonment by what is left as new games come out.

 

Oh, I forgot to mention lack of proper support from Epic :) Thats something at least TF2 has..... Valve>Epic

I'm only gonna play UT3 until Huxley comes out. Waaaahhhh!!!!! Kidding... UT3 is the only thing I play on PC... well, except the occasional game of solitaire.

i play on a full server every night

 

ut3 is by far the best game out...

even though epic doesnt know jack about what warfare should be... we're lucky to have awesome people out in the community providing us with custom content. its people like you who really make this game great. its sad to see you give up right after this whole ons project is finally coming together. i mean all that work...    Doz even wanted to start a ons ladder!!!!! we know what we have to do to get people to play... host events. we just need to do it on a regular basis. just my 2cents

that a problem for me though, I'm not around during "peak" times(usually at night) to play UT3. I'm mostly available to play during the day, until I find a new job that is...

 

I think the best thing to do would be to set a certain night of the week, Sunday maybe, where the people that are interested in playing ONS 2 get together on a server. T5K seems to be the most interested in playing ONS 2, maybe we can have weekly sunday night scrims with them. That would benefit both teams. Rather than locking the server during these scrims leave it open and maybe more random people would join.

 

Epic really needs to release some of the custom maps from MSUC as a bonus pack. I think that would liven up all gametypes.
