Battlefield Unreal

Hey this is Rumple from Hedsteem. I'm working on a warfare mod that combines elements of Battlefield Bad Company 2 with UT3. I've changed the player movement a bit to better suit the new weapons. No double jump but you can jump higher. You can still wall dodge but not constantly. After you dodge theres a 1.5 second cool down time before you can dodge again. I've removed the team glow from the player so it's easier to hide. I'll add some pics of the weapons and stuff to this post when I get home from work today.

Sounds like an interesting idea the way you explained it to me the other day. Let me know when its playable on your server so we can test this bad boy out. Thanks for the info Rumple!

Ok heres the Weapons so far.

All weapons recharge their own ammo so there is no need for ammo pickups.

Default Inventory:

1: Frag Grenade: Hit the Q to bring it up just like the translocator. Primary fire throws a grenade overhand, & alt fire throws it underhand.

Ammo Capacity: 3

Recharge Rate: Medium

Headshots: No

Vehicle Damage: High

 

2: M-9 A2 pistol: High rate of fire primary and 3 round burst alt fire. Very short cool down time between bursts.

Ammo Capacity: 24

Recharge Rate: Fast

Headshots: Yes

Vehicle Damage: Medium

 

Other Weapons:

 

3: XM-18 AR (Assault Rifle) with integrated 40mm grenade launcher: High rate of fire & good long distance accuracy. Alt fire is a 4x scope.

Ammo Capacity: 150

Recharge Rate: Fast

Headshots: Yes

Vehicle Damage: Medium

 

4: XM18-Grenade Launcher: Fires a 40mm high explosive grenade. Alt fire is the XM-18 4x scope.

Ammo Capacity: 3

Recharge Rate: Slow

Headshots: Yes

Vehicle Damage: High

 

5: SPAS-12 Riot Shotgun: Modified SPAS-12 with a pistol grip & short barrel. Semi auto with a low rate of fire. Devistating at close range.

Ammo Capacity: 10

Recharge Rate: Slow

Headshots: Yes

Vehicle Damage: Medium/High

 

6: M-42 A1 HSP (Hyper Sonic Projectile): Fires a 6.5mm Hyper Sonic Projectile that goes so fast it hits the target instantly.

Ammo Capacity: 10

Recharge Rate: Slow

Headshots: Yes

Vehicle Damage: High

sounds interesting, i was on a server with modified weapons once, it was weird, but way cool, just wish that i played more with real people rather than just the bots....

In Rush mode the gameplay will be similar to warfare. There are cores but they will never be attacked directly. There will be an attacking team and a defending team. The attacking team will have objectives to complete, taking a point, node, or destroying something, etc. Every time an objective is completed the defenders core will take damage. The attacking teams core looses health gradually over time. This game play style will speed up the game and hopefully attract more players.

In Conquest mode there will be 2 cores with stand alone nodes between just like warfare but the cores will never be attacked directly. Instead the object will be to capture nodes. Once a node is captured the enemy core will start taking damage. The more nodes you capture the faster the enemy core takes damage.

There is no hoverboard in any of these game modes. This will promote team play since you will have to depend on vehicles more to get around the maps. I have a 5 seat hellbender for a troop transport and will make other multi seat vehicles for this purpose. I'll probably mod the paladin to carry up to 6 people.

I'm still tweaking the server and adding new maps, weapons, & vehicles as they are created. I got some cool Halloween stuff for the server too.

There are now 3 different map types on the server.

1: Conquest: Double assault style. Capturing stand alone or count down nodes causes the enemy core to take damage. The more nodes you have captured the faster the enemy core takes damage. Map tag CON.

2: Rush: Singe assault style. Attacking team has objectives to complete (capture nodes, destroy objects) to destroy the defenders core. Attackers core slowly looses health. Defenders must keep attacking team from completing objectives. Map tag RUSH.

3: King Of The Hill: Single center node to capture and defend until the enemy core explodes. Map tag KOTH.

In all 3 map designs the cores are never attacked.

I finally checked out the server, I like alot of it, but the rush no hover board, no translocator, instead a grenade launcher? i can disagree with that one thing, as i really like the hover board.... but over all good job, the bots are a little too good with that shot gun tho... lol :)

Yeah the bots go insane with the shotgun. Everything is subject to change. I'm just trying out some new things.

It's Laguna Presa from Bad Company 2. It'll be 4 maps in one played assault style. Once a base is taken the former base gets disabled and so on till you reach the other teams base or the attackers core runs out of energy.

I'm thinking about making a hover/jet pack for WAR/RUSH to replace the hoverboard. I was thinking about making it so you can hover a little bit higher than the manta and be able to jump to get over objects. I'd also like to make it so if you take -X amount of damage it knocks you off like the hoverboard. Either that or after taking so much damage the hover pack explodes. That way it wont make the rest of the vehicles in the game usless. I'd also like to make it so you're able to use your weapons while using it. What are your thoughs about this idea?

Oh wow! jump jet... nice, using your weapon while on it maybe... if you put after so much damage (1/2 your regualar life or being hit like they have damage amp) it explodes killing you too, otherwise no weapon use, fall off taking regular damage sounds better....   maybe you could even make it so that jump goes up and duck down, just like the "fly" code does???
